CLASS DESCRIPTIVES

You will find the following elements in my classes.

Doing the exercises in pairs or in small groups helps deepen your practice, whether it's increasing flexibility, building strength, or simply connecting with other men. Enrich your practice with playful or sometimes sensual physical contact. You do not need to have a partner to attend these classes, BUT if you wish to participate, you must be prepared to welcome people with an open, non-judgmental mind.

As with the other classes, this one begins with a meditation, a warm-up and a short dynamic sequence. We then work deeper with a partner to learn how to connect with our physical body, our sensuality, our partners and our community. Although the contact with your partner and the nature of the work can be sensual, this practice of yoga is still non-sexual.

Partner Policy

You do not need to bring a partner with you for the workshops. However, working with other men in the nude is intimate work and can sometimes be just uncomfortable. If for any reason you do not wish to participate, it is imperative that you decline invitations with the utmost respect. Don't lie, run off to the bathroom, or pretend you didn't see the other person, which is just plain rude. Be courteous and decline the offer with a simple “I prefer to work alone this time”. No further explanation is required or necessary.

Likewise, if someone declines your invitation, accept their response with respect. We do not know the reasons for refusal and worrying about it would waste our precious time. Simply take advantage of this individual work time. The teacher will be happy to show another variant to people working solo.

INVERSIONS

ALIGNMENT

This course, where you will learn the basic principles of body alignment, establishes the foundations of each posture, performed with short pauses. The focus is on performing within your physical and emotional abilities, not performance. You will continue to develop your strength and flexibility, in full awareness of all your physical and emotional sensations. This course is also for those who have a solid experience but wish to review the basics or work at a more calm but precise pace. As your strength and flexibility increase, you will acquire a whole repertoire of postures ranging from the simplest to the most ambitious. It is important to respect your physical limits and recognize that your body is unique and is changing from day to day.

YOGA FOR THE BACK

Although standing is the most appropriate position for the spine, the effects of gravity, stress and sitting can weaken this basic structure.
During this class, we will explore a variety of exercises specifically designed to reduce or release pain and tension, stretch restricted areas, and strengthen postural muscles.
Isn't it known that the feeling of well-being starts with a healthy spine?

PASSIVE RESTORATIVE

Inversions are postures that flip our body upside down, bringing the hips higher than the heart and the heart higher than the head. They stimulate the nervous system, bring more oxygen and blood flow to the brain, boost our metabolic capacity and energy level, work the abs, wake up the lymphatic system and help circulation. Reversals don't need to be worrisome. By changing our perspective while starting one small step at a time, we build our physical capacity as well as our confidence, which will then allow us to progress to more advanced asanas.

This passive, gentle and slow yoga allows you to really release “mental” pressure and physical tension. No more competition, effort, perspiration: let go of the matter for a yoga class. We keep the postures for more than 5 minutes to discover new sensations. A great way to start yoga.
Includes the use of various accessories provided by the studio.

ACTIVE RESTORATIVE

This active but gentle yoga allows you to really release “mental” pressure and physical tension. We maintain the postures in an active mode to feel the work. We keep the postures for more than 5 minutes to discover new sensations. A great way to start yoga.

YOGA THERAPY

It is a physical therapy class so we work on the postures with the help of accessories to feel their benefits. We keep the postures for more than 5 minutes to relieve injuries or pain. A great way to start yoga.  Therapeutic yoga is a type of exercise or sequences done specifically to help you overcome or conquer injuries (new or old), medical conditions or other medical disorders. Mr. Iyengar and his daughter Gheeta Iyengar have spent their lives developing techniques that utilize the body's natural regeneration skill. Therapeutic yoga used in conjunction with Ayurvedic medicine has helped people with back pain, digestive disorders, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, asthma, HIV and more.
